Taking cues from the courts with a design geared towards ‘the everyday NBA guy’, the 550 is a clean-cut must-cop, and it’s making waves once again.

The basketball sneaker was designed back in the ‘80s by the legendary Steven Smith, the ‘Godfather of dad shoes’.
But times were different and styles weren’t the same, and a low-top basketball trainer just didn’t quite cut it. The 550 faded back into New Balance’s archives after a short-lived hype when it was released.
And it wasn’t until they were re-released in collaboration with Aimé Leon Dore a solid 30 years later, when the sneaks finally got the love they deserve.
The 550 took the sneaker scene by storm, bringing a fresh energy to New Balance and gaining big traction.
