With the holiday season upon us, for Jordan-heads in the know, it only means one thing; another retro Jordan XI. And 2019 brings us possibly the most revered Jordan XI and even quite possibly the greatest Jordan shoe ever, the Concord XI. The weapon of choice for Michael’s return to the NBA following a short-lived retirement, this instant classic is a must have for any true sneakerhead.
Last retro’d in 2011, this year’s launch will make it the fourth time the legend returns to the stage. Originally launched in 1995, the sneaker was first seen in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Orlando Magic, which featured all-time greats including a young Shaquille O’Neal, Penny Hardaway and Dennis Scott. Although the Chicago Bulls would go on to lose the series, the Jordan XI was ingrained in the mind of Jordan fans everywhere as a pivotal piece of history.
Pushing the sneaker game to the next level with it’s mind blowing combination of luxurious materials, it’s no wonder that this is Tinker Hatfield’s favourite sneaker of all time. Bringing back signature white ballistic mesh and carbon fiber detailing, the iced out outsole features hits of concord-purple as it’s namesake dictates. Staying true to the genesis of the Jordan XI, this version features an enlarged patent leather mudguard which is more resemblant of the original pair worn on-court in 1995. However, to commemorate Jordan’s return to the game, the number 45 is embroidered into the heel to pay homage to the number MJ wore upon his return to the NBA. Finished with signature Jumpman logo at the heel, premium materials and luxurious hues made these the original ‘Tuxedo For Your Feet’.
Taking off at JD Sports on Saturday the 8th of December; good things come to those who wait, don’t blink or else these will be gone before you know it.
