Although his Airness never adorned the court wearing the Jordan 9 as a Chicago Bull, Jordan brand gives us some insight into what could’ve been with the Air Jordan 9 ‘Gym Red’. Made infamous by the “Johnny Killroy” campaign during Michael Jordan’s brief retirement from basketball, the Jordan IX has always been a sneaker in the Air Jordan lineage which has flown under the radar. Now arriving in signature Chicago-esque colours, this new colourway is primed for its debut everywhere from the hardwood to street sidewalks.
With red patent never before seen on this particular model, the callback to Bull’s colours is enough to get the mouth watering of Jordan-heads and sneaker lovers alike. Featuring a crisp white leather base, the red patent leather wrap overlay brings premium eye catching materials to the shoe. With black accents at the eyelets, tongue and heel tab, the Jordan branding is made clear with the woven 23 and rubberised Jordan globe at the heel. With a clean white outsole, the woven “AIR JORDAN” tongue tab and black Jumpman logo completes the look.
Look for the Air Jordan 9 ‘Gym Red’ to drop at JD Sports on the 5th of October, and you’ll want to be early to secure a pair of these red and white modern classics.
