For sneakerheads in the know, Christmas isn’t the only thing circled on December calendars. For the 10th anniversary of the annual holiday celebration of the Jordan XI, Jordan Brand raises the bar with this remastered release of the legendary Air Jordan 11 Retro ‘Bred’. Also known to many as the “Playoff 11’s” as it was the shoe worn by Michael throughout the 1996 playoffs on his way to a 4th ring and sparking the second 3-peat, this colour-way hasn’t been seen on shelves since 2012. However, this year’s retro has been elevated above it’s 2001, 2008 and 2012 predecessors with the most true to the original rendition of the ’96 OG to date; even down to the box.
Taking a closer look at the 2019 Air Jordan 11 Bred, it’s easy to see why this is Jordan Brand’s most highly anticipated release of the season. Featuring a remastered shape which bears the closest resemblance to the original, the heavy dose of luxury patent leather reaches higher up the ankle like the ’96 original. Coupled with a ballistic mesh upper and tongue, the bright red Jumpman embellishments can be seen atop the leather collar and betwixt the laces. With a crisp white midsole, the revolutionary midfoot carbon fiber plate is offset with the translucent red outsole which reaches up the sides of the sneaker. Even boasting the original “23” at the heel instead of the more recent “45” seen on modern Jordan 11’s, Jordan pulls all the stops and brings back the nostalgic tan, red and black box with all of it’s original 90’s flair.
Launching at JD Sports on the 14th of December, Santa doesn’t sleep during Christmas and neither should you, if you want to own a pinnacle pair of elite heat all year around.
