Nike reimagines an ’82 icon, with the launch of the Nike Air Force 1 Sage Lace. Staying true to the substance of the original Air Force 1, the new iteration fuses whimsical female imagination with the hallmarks of a legend. With a little help from rising English R&B artist and creative, Jorja Smith, this release is shaping up as one of the Swoosh’s best of the year for the ladies.
Reimagining an Icon
Originally released as part of Nike’s ‘The 1 Reimagined” collection that launched early 2018, the pack also included modern interpretations of the Air Jordan 1 alongside a laceless Air Force 1. Returning with subtle tweaks to the upper and integrated laces, the Sage Lace does away with traditional overlays and recruits rolled edges and sunken toe box for a contemporary finish. Keeping true to the chunky roots of its forefather, the shoe doubles down on this with a wedge midsole and fine comb teeth to add contrast to the sleekness of the upper.
“You’re you for a reason”
Custom-built for women, by women, Jorja Smith embodies the feminine creative for this campaign. Following the launch of her debut album “Lost and Found” and collaborative projects with Drake and Kendrick Lamar, Jorja has been thrusted into the limelight with her star continuing to rise. With an ascended sense of self-awareness, confidence and conviction evident in her soulful sound, she’s an exemplar for female creatives who continue to push the envelope; making her the perfect model of the modern woman and Nike’s newest Air Force 1 innovation.
Ready to be added to your rotation, the Air Force 1 Sage Lace arrives dressed in three colour-ways including, black, triple white and dusty pink.
Finessing both soulful craft with tried and tested foundations, the Air Force 1 Sage Lace lands at JD sports on Friday the 5th of October.
