In 1992, Nike released it’s first women’s exclusive Air Max shoe with the Air Verona; and needless to say, women haven’t walked or run the same since. Fast forward nearly 30 years later, Nike pays homage to a women’s OG with the introduction of the Nike Air Max Verona. With more recent women’s exclusive styles such as the Air Max Thea and Air Max Dia, the OG Verona paved the way for these to become footwear staples in female rotations everywhere.
On first glance, it’s easy to see where the Air Max Verona has borrowed design elements of other Air Max icons, such as the Air Max 90 and Air Max 200. Taking inspiration from the Air Max 200 unit, the side window is 200% larger than traditional side visibility Air units. With a balanced sleek yet bulky aesthetic, the profile mimics the lines of the Air Max 90, boasting an exaggerated heel and marginally distinct panelling. Keeping it classic with a mesh toe box, smooth leathers takeover at the heel wraps and eye stays. Standing out with a stitched, zig-zag constructed swoosh, the signature Nike tick appears twice on the heel for maximum Nike branding.
